Prior to Pearl Jam’s headlining performance, frontman Eddie Vedder made a surprise appearance at Bonnaroo’s Comedy Theatre on Saturday.
Vedder joined Judd Apatow for a tribute to Garry Shandling which saw the pair incorporate the late comedian’s jokes and anecdotes into a song. With Vedder strumming along on acoustic guitar, “Apatow provided the delivery of the one-liners, such as, ‘My friends say I have an intimacy problem, but they don’t really know me,’ and, ‘My mom wants me to have kids — just not with other people,'” according to The Tennessean.
Apatow considered Shandling his mentor and served as the master of ceremonies for his memorial service in April.
