on December 01, 2014, 3:18pm

December 1st is World AIDS Day. To mark the occasion, several high-profile musicians will stage a surprise concert in Times Square this evening. U2 will headline the event sans frontman Bono, who is still recovering from injuries sustained during a bike accident last month. Instead, the band will be fronted by Bruce Springsteen and Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

Other scheduled performers include Kanye West and Carrie Underwood. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on YouTube.
