Although J. Tillman, aka Father John Misty, hasn’t released a proper album since 2012’s Fear Fun, he has been dabbling quite a bit in the film/TV world. Back in December, he provided the score for his wife’s directorial debut, The History of Caves, and, earlier this year he contributed to the latest soundtrack for HBO’s GIRLS. Now, the folk singer-songwriter returns with another project for the silver screen, a cover of Cat Stevens’ classic “Trouble”.

As Aquarium Drunkard points out, the lovely and sobering rendition will appear on the forthcoming documentary ONCE I WAS: The Hal Ashby Story, which focuses on the life of the iconic, Oscar-winning American director. Those familiar with his movies might remember hearing Stevens’ original version of “Trouble” first surface on Ashby’s cult classic Harold and Maude back in 1971.
